New SkillBit Survey Reveals Cybersecurity Readiness Gaps Across the Talent Lifecycle

We’re excited to share our 2026 SkillBit Micro-Training Survey Report, developed with support from CyberBay and Bellini Capital.

We asked more than 200 senior executives in cybersecurity, including CISOs, CIOs, and VPs of Security, how they hire, onboard, and continuously train their teams. The survey found that organizations face several cybersecurity readiness challenges across the talent lifecycle. This pointed towards a clear need for continuous readiness, an approach that combines continuous benchmarking, hands-on practice, and bite-sized learning.

A few highlights include:

  • 70% of organizations have few roles available to candidates with under two years of experience.
  • 57% report a six-month time-to-value, while most view three months as the target.
  • 71% prefer 20-minute weekly upskilling sessions over annual training, yet 84% sponsor “Certification” training for their staff, which often consumes large amounts of time to complete.

At SkillBit, we believe that bite-sized training is the answer to continuous readiness in cybersecurity.

“A completed course or certification documents a moment in time. Security leaders need to know whether teams can perform today and be ready for tomorrow’s challenges,” said Roman Bohuk, Co-Founder & CEO of SkillBit. “Continuous Readiness gives organizations a practical way to build, validate and strengthen skills before those skills are tested in a real incident.”
