Systems-thinking is consistently one of the most in demand cybersecurity skills for senior SOC roles, and it's built through experience rather than a course. The best senior analysts stop treating alerts as isolated events. They spot recurring root causes, thin detection coverage, and slow-building patterns across low severity tickets.
How pattern recognition develops
This is harder to teach than a tool and harder to fake than a certification. It's built through repetition: working enough cases, in enough contexts, for patterns to start surfacing on their own.
